Motorola, UIH Team on Trial WiMAX Deployment in Thailand
Motorola (News - Alert) and United Information Highway Company Limited (UIH) successfully teamed up on a trial mobile WiMAX
deployment in Thailand. The trial demonstrated how new wireless broadband users can benefit from the technology.
Motorola develops technologies, products and services that make mobile experiences possible. The company deals with communications infrastructure, enterprise mobility solutions, digital set-tops, cable modems, mobile devices and Bluetooth
accessories. It also delivers next generation communication solutions to people, businesses and governments.
United Information Highway (UIH) is an integrated broadband service operator providing high-speed data communication services to corporate customers in both private and public sectors through leased optical fiber networks.
National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) granted WiMAX

Complete mobility performance of Motorola’s mobile WiMAX solutions could be experienced, throughout the trial program. UIH is analyzing and familiarizing itself with Motorola’s mobile WiMAX technology to provide low-cost broadband services to corporate users and travelers.
“The successful trials with UIH affirms WiMAX as a feasible wireless technology for the roll-out of cost-effective broadband services to urban and remote areas within a short deployment timeframe,” said Eric Starnes (News - Alert), general manager and regional director of Motorola’s home and networks mobility division in Southeast Asia, in a statement. “We believe that mobile WiMAX solutions will give UIH differentiating advantages in expanding wireless broadband offerings and other value-added services to their customers.”
