Tpad Announces Mobile VoIP on Nokia WiFi Mobiles

Tpad has launched a free SMS text service that will automatically setup a WiFi (News - Alert) enabled mass-market mobile phone bringing free or ultra low cost mobile VoIP calls to millions of subscribers.

Tpad’s new service is currently configured for Nokia's (News - Alert) latest E and N series phones. The company has decided to constantly update the SMS text service when mobile phone producers such as Samsung and Motorola release their brand new WiFi phones sometime in 2008.

According to Chris Morris, Tpad's (News - Alert) general manager, free calling has finally arrived on mass market mobiles. He said in a statement that they are giving all new users who sign up for a free Tpad mobile account a free test call to the value of $0.50 for a limited period. Users will thus have the chance to experience the call quality of next generation mobile VoIP.

The company explains that mobile calls between Tpad users are free worldwide if the calls are routed over their WiFi Connection. Tpad will charge all other PSTN calls from the user's WiFi mobile to any other landline or mobile in the world at the usual low Tpad VoIP rates.

This SMS text service will remove the need for complicated set up procedures. At Tpad, customers create a free mobile account and they automatically receive a free SMS text that will configure their phone's SIP settings with Tpad. Because Tpad integrates seamlessly with the phone using the existing address book, users don’t have to retype the contacts. When a user sets up the mobile to use a WiFi hotspot, the device connects automatically next time the phone is in range.

This service uses the inbuilt software that Nokia already has pre-installed, which ensures that there will be full compatibility with trouble free usage.

Morris said that with this free credit a person can make a 10 minute call to any mobile in Pakistan using their ultra low VoIP call rates. He noted that if they combine this with Tpad’s policy of no connection fees and per second billing they are at the forefront of the new wave of mobile VoIP companies.

Tpad is pioneering an all SIP / VoIP solution that enable leading branded mobile phones or any VoIP Device (ATA, IP Phone, PC Softphone, and WiFi Mobile) to make free or very low cost calls using VoIP.
