Geodesic (News - Alert) Information Systems providing mobile and desktop solutions for instant messaging, Internet radio and mobile VoIP announced that it has made a deal with MEDION AG.

 

Germany based MEDION provides consumer electronics products including portable digital players, satellite navigation systems, desktops, laptops and personal digital assistants. The multi-year agreement entails that MEDION will pre-install and ship Geodesic’s Mundu IM solution in a new youth-oriented mobile communications device to be sold in Europe.

 

The deal will expand Geodesic’s channel partnerships including Asian and European carriers, handset manufacturers, content providers and manufacturers of consumer handheld devices.

 

Forrester (News - Alert) Research released a report predicting that mobile IM adoption in Europe will triple from 8 percent in 2007 to 24 percent by 2013. This considers the current subscriber base of 26.7 million which will increase to 80 million. Consumers will be desirous of communicating with multiple friends over multiple IM accounts and have a better mobile IM experience.

 

Geodesic’s Mundu IM is the universal mobile IM solution which combines IM services with collaboration across the Internet, wireless devices and platforms. Mundu IM has received several industry awards in recognition of its services as a top mobile application in the market.

 

Mundu IM operates across mobile, Web, desktop platforms and it also offers support to web browsers like IE, Mozilla Firefox and Safari. It is interoperable with IM services like Yahoo, AOL, MSN, ICQ and Google (News - Alert) Talk with integrated Jabber for enterprise IM. Several advanced features are included in Geodesic’s IM such as multi-lingual chat, conferencing capabilities across IM services, push email, and extensive presence management.

Mundu IM allows manufacturers to offer user interface skinning and branding and XMPP-based management for creating online communities. These enable users to share content on social networking sites at the same time supporting any platform.
