Voxofon Announces New Mobile VoIP Application for Palm WebOS SmartphonesMobile Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) has become the topic of discussion in the telecommunications industry nowadays. The no-cost VoIP calling service has encouraged many companies to develop applications to integrate the technology on mobile phones. With Smartphones expected to rule the future mobile phone market, mobile application providers are keen to develop technology that fits into popular Smartphones available today. Many of these technologies focus on integrating the Smartphone software into leading VoIP calling services. Voxofon, the Texas-based provider of mobile VoIP applications for smartphones, recently announced such an application for the Palm webOS platform. The application allows its customers to make calls to users of Skype, Google Talk and Gizmo5 (News - Alert), as well as Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) destinations. Palm webOS is a mobile operating system running on the Linux kernel with proprietary components developed by Palm. The Palm Pre smartphone is the first device to launch with webOS. Voxofon is currently offering the new application for users of Palm Pre and Palm Pixi phones, Voxofon officials said. Callers can download the Voxofon calling application for free through the Palm App Catalog. In July, Voxofon had announced a mobile VoIP application for Palm Pre phones, TMCnet reported.
